About Luigi

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1959. My father was Italian. His parents moved to SA post World War 1. My grandfather was sent to SA as Italian Consulate General and after WW2 decided to settle in SA. This is how I came to be an Italian national. I went to school in JHB SA, after which I studied teaching. I taught for five years. My love for working with wood steered me into the furniture industry, making handmade furniture to order, as well as working in the veneer industry, but my passion for making instruments, led me towards finding a teacher where I learned the art of violin making. I then went on some years later to making guitars as well.10345739_10152408583986199_3350857787696023568_n[1]In 1999, I moved to the Western Cape in South Africa with my family to a town called George, where we experience a truly great quality of life, in the beauty of the Garden Route. This is where I live at present, at the foot of the grand Outeniqua Mountains.

I get immense satisfaction from making instruments, and would like to share this feeling by offering people the opportunity to learn how to make an acoustic guitar of their own. This in itself, is an absolute fantastic life experience. With this new found knowledge, they will have more insight as to the how and why of a guitar, and if they wish, they can continue and set up or upgrade their existing workshop at home, accumulate the necessary tools and go on to make more instruments and develop and improve their newfound skill, having broken the ice with their first instrument.
