Day 7 – Things are taking shape – Removed body from mould after gluing top and cleaned up edges on top – cut rebate for bindings – fitted and glued bindings – prepared and did 2nd cut on neck – set neck angle and prepared for doing neck joint – cleaned up bindings and did first sand – Pete is doing really well and is moving ahead of schedule.
Day 8 – Welcome back Nick – good to have you back at last. Today Pete prepared and cut his neck joint, shaped the heel of the neck, did the rough shaping of the rest of the neck and glued the neck to the body and did a damn fine job! Nick got right back into it and shaped and sanded the braces on the sound board and the top, cut the back brace joints and glued the back to the sides – good progress guys!
Day 9 – today was a busy day! Nick cut his sound board brace joints – glued his top – shaped his side struts – shaped his fingerboard and cut the fret slots – and cut out his bridge. He was slowed down a bit by glue drying time, but will be very busy tomorrow. Pete had a good day – he cut and fitted his truss rod – fitted and glued the fingerboard – shaped the curve on the fingerboard – did the second shape on the neck – cut and fitted the fret wire – and glued on the headstock veneer – whew, a lot in one day – well done guys!
Day 10 – Nick is catching up – he cut and fitted the end flash – trimmed the edges and cut the rebates for the bindings – fitted and glued the bindings – shaped his bridge – did the first cut on the neck – Tomorrow will be a big day for Nick. Pete trimmed, levelled and polished the frets – did the final shaping on the neck and did a fine job, the neck is beautiful! – drilled and fitted the side dots – finished shaping the bridge, did the final sanding on the whole instrument and glued on the bridge – tomorrow he starts the finishing. https://www.facebook.com/guitarventures/posts/501340329978359
